Never have feather fronts peel up from regular use or even shoot throughs! This class teaches you to design your own flight profiles. Easily reuse flights and thread from broken arrows to recycle on other arrows.

No need for expensive, smelly, electric modern feather burners or noisy choppers. This process is plausibly period throughout (including documentation of some parts) and thus can be done camping or without electricity.

Students may bring their own note-taking materials, sharp scissors, and x-acto knife if they prefer their own tools, but all fletching materials will be provided.

Gems of Period Archery Lore

Finger Loop Braiding

Come learn the basics of finger loop braiding to get you started making your own cords! Materials will be provided, though students may bring their own cord if desired. The class only takes 5-10 minutes, so stay and hang out while you work on your new skill! Drop in when you can, for however long you wish, and I help get you started with this fun skill.

An introduction on siege weapons and the different types from ballista, catapult, trebuchet. The difference between tension and torsion, along with period discussion on Roman Camshaft and pneumatic ballista. As well discussion the use of siege towers in period.

Thumb Release Class and Practice

1 hour, Archery range

The class will present the differences between the western/Mediterranean finger release that most people know, and the eastern thumb release. Participants will have the opportunity to try the technique at the end of the instruction.
